Difference between AGU and AUM blocks
« on: 09 October 2011, 14:50 »
Hi

Right interested in getting a engine from a mate which is a AUM engine code, I have a  AGU engine code.

Now, im wondering what the differences are on the BLOCK, not the head or sensors or whatever else, just the differences between internal components.  I know the rods are thinner, but not sure about things for crank, and other stuff you get down in that area.

Just want a engine to build over the winter as a LONG term project to getting more power out of mine (ie big turbo)  Id build everything up on the aum then swap manifolds and put everything made onto my AGU head i currently have now.  although a AUM engine loom and ECU would probably be more beneficial.  Hmmm

Any ideas?

i would use the agu engine ,but get the turbo off the aum and put it on the agu.Grind all the valves in and clean head and pistons, and gas flow the head whilst its off.

Already got a k03s AGU engine.

Want a spare block/head i can work with over the winter/next year building up for a big turbo.  There is always a time when ~230bhp really isnt enough.

Try and find a R 32 engine.  Wonder if there are any bigger turbo engines that will fit in the golf.  :undecided: I would build up a AGU .up to you.  :nerd:

If theres no difference then i can buy any block?

I did say in the first post id be building engine bottom end and manifold up on the spare engine then swapping the AGU head onto the new block and sticking manifold and turbo onto AGU head. ;)

If its gonna be rebuilt why choose an agu over an aum? isn't electronic throttle better, and the rest would be pretty much the same?
