Rear view mirror removal?? [SORTED]

Ive bought myself a black rear view mirror that I'm planning on putting in the car, but I just wanted to ask, is there a technique to removing the original mirror?
I replaced my rear view on my Mk3, n was soon on the phone to AutoGlass

Risky job, possibly. Worthy mod, definitely!!

Thread revival!

As mentioned, and pictured, grab hold of the base, and tentatively twist it 90'. It will pop off clockwise or anti clockwise, but it must twist 90'. Some are a right b!tch, and will crack your screen regardless!
