In a 2.0T lump I have seen them loose the LCR mk2 so easily, I'm confused why they whopping your a$$

Heavily modded they do keep up, but the LCR still wins with a map...

Auto express are guessing, they have no idea. They were at the same convention as a mate that runs the CTRO forum and they said nothing of a new Type R, let along a turbo motor. No one knows.

The fact is a car thats a second slower to 60 is only going to be a car or two lengths behind by 60. Moving past a car at a very fast speed when accelerating from 30 to 80mph would require double the other cars horsepower at least. In the real world the difference is minimal. Over 50mph of distance i edged past the CTR. From stand still i edged past until i was a few car lengths ahead.

It is easy. Im not ragging it to the limit. But a 200bhp car that weight 1200KG is not going to be that much slower than a car that weighs about 1500kg with only 80bhp more.

I can gradually edge past a type R in a straight line and mine isnt slow.

 Really ? ?

Iv been up against a few.. no contest at all...  would have thought yours would easily beat one.. like really easily...

Going to add here that i love the high revs of Jap cars and its what i grew up on. fantastic engines.. Iv had a CRX Vtec back in the day and it was good..

for me tho, the newer they get the less appeal they have to me. really like the shape Dan has, the White ones..had a duel with one of those and easily beat it.. tbh i mad fit look slow and the owner even said the same.. still love them tho.

The all new R Type is going to finally have a TURBO !!! and apparently be around the 210 bhp mark  (Auto express)

To be fair with the time and money put into your car and with only about 20% of the parts left being Mk3 Gti parts i would be gutted if it couldnt beat a Type R! Of course all of the mods on your car are not for speed...... lol ;)

Its also modded vs standard, so a moot point.

You could buy and Supercharge/Turbo a ctr now for less than £8k which will give you 300BHP+ across an rpm range of 9000. There are ones already done for about £5k. Bargain performance!

yup and modded the chassis will be even more class...although they do sit quite nice as standard in terms of responsiveness...unlike a mk3

still like a modded mk3 tho....got a soft spot nearly as soft as their standard suspension  :embarassed:

You mean the chassis that got it round the top gear test track quicker than all the other hot hatches?

I have sigs off, i presume you still have your r32 one?

If so yes, but a 3.2 V6 with 50bhp more and 4wd should be quicker really

Yes, but the Mk5 golf should be compared to the FN2 shape really. The EP3 is nearly 10 years old!
