Just a couple of thoughts and experiences from my install...

If it's a new install rather than replacing an older version then it's easiest to wedge behind the head unit. Just wrap it in some foam to stop any rattles.

I removed the climate unit but DO NIT unplug the airbag lamp from this or you'll get an error until corrected on VCDS.

Hope the above helps and may already know this but thought it'd be better to share

Thanks for that I have got VCDS so, not worried about it (clearing faults e.t.c. and installing it), although I will try and remove as little as possible as less rattles.  Its a new install, and had read somewhere about bunging it behind the radio.  Although I like the idea of it being under the seat so no rattles, I think the first thing is to test it works then install.

The looms is long enough to go under the seat, but it means removing loads of trim.

As far as I can tell from this http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Telephone_Retrofitting Its the second from the bottom in the table. So fingers crossed it works, I think european model and no external aerial.  Looks like build week 22/2011
