removing front strut
« on: 27 September 2011, 16:55 »
Hi all going to remove and replace both front struts tomorrow. If I remove the bottom nut on leg first and free it all then do the top one by putting Allen key in top and I got a ring spanner to undo nut will it fall out in one or do I still need to use spring compressers as I ant got none. Just asking as the new ones I got if you take new nut off top of strut the whole tip comes off and you can get to spring

Spring is compressed in, to remove the spring from the strut you will need a clamp

all i do to remove the second nut is put the strut on the floor put 1 foot on the spring and loosen the nut there isnt much compressor there .

you mad? terrible advice to give, what if his struts siezed and the spring is under a lot higher compression! for the sake of a few quid for a set of clamps i know what id rather do
