Me and the mrs both put an equal amount into a joint account each month to cover mortgage bills etc... and the rest stays in our own accounts to do with as we please. That however, does not mean that when we go out to eat etc... we take it in turns to pay, it generally is all up to me! :lipsrsealed:

I would never have a joint, but that's just my opinion, some people love it, some hate it. I use to be a bit crazy with spending, but since having a daughter and buying a house I cleared any debt possible. Both me and my partner have separate accounts, we see each others in-comings and outgoings and it bothers neither off us, however I did let her work 1 day less a week since having our first born, wish I could do the same.

I really need to progress somehow into a real career and start earning real money... or at least I can dream

Had a joint account for 6 years with my partner everything is joint seems normal to us & were not even married, seems very weird for married people to have seperate accounts unless you have something to hide

I dont look at the wifes account cos its none of my business, another reason I dont look is she takes home 4-5k a month more than I do so I dont want to be left in tears.

If I earned that much my bloke would be my full time kitchen b!tch and no mistake.

We've had a single joint account since we purchased our first house back in 1995, both salaries are paid into the account.  Still do too.  Luckily we're both pretty sensible spenders and trust each, over the years we've also had very similar salaries too which I think helps massively in viewing things 50/50.
