I wonder how many beans or peas my BW8 2010 GTI with 4,880 miles will be worth?

Depends what it's going in against Asker. You may get a healthy discount against a new car or you may get a 'stunning' offer against a car they can't or won't discount. It all depends on how much money a dealer has tied up in the deal or whether they need to shift something badly to trigger a bonus.
What it's worth on paper and what it goes for are two different things, and you've got to measure that against future probable depreciation on what you're buying next.
That's the financial side of it, the emotional side is very different; but still linked.

Why not buy her a cheap smoker to run around in and keep the GTI for best? I use a 14 year old SEAT as a daily driver so my GTI stays nice.

my problem is that , rules are in my stunning gti, kids not alllowed to eat or drink and no dog in the boot ,  think there are better rules in prison  so will prob part ex it , and it will be a sad day, as i have owned a gti all my life first was a mk2 in red small bumper version then i was hooked

start saving some pennies always wanted r32

You can pick up an old Diesel estate for a few hundred quid, let the kids and dogs do as they please in that, and not worry about f**kwits in supermarket carparks.
Then still keep the mint GTI as a reason to live and breathe.

I'll start ripping the bits out end of 2012 before I flog it. I am p!ssed off with the Ed35. At least it's got ugly, sh!tty wheels.

The ED35 has got swollen glands at the front and funny sideskirts so it needs 19'' wheels to carry it off.
At least the ED wheels won't suffer corrosion like Shadows.

CBHs* seem to be the rage. The Rs got them too and so do the Bluemotions.

The R and Bluemotions carry it off far better. The ED35 just looks like it has had too many pies and developed a double chin.

I've just got rid of a Skoda estate after a year, using it for this very purpose.

Hassle stress free motoring when the dog and kids were in it or like you say, parking it at the local supermarket.

Also great for the winter for not risking the Golf.

I'm liking your user name. It's presently ten to five in the morning and all I can now think about is a plate of scrambled eggs on toast.
There's not a single egg in the house (and I'd be killed for waking everyone else up by cooking them anyway) so I'm going to have to make do with chocolate.
