You'd get a better price by part exchanging it against something dearer that a dealer has a bit of money to play with.

As an example my car books at £16300 ish (09 GTI 5 Door, 12000 miles) and dealers are reluctant to offer £16k for it.

Que sera.

What they offer you on paper for yours doesn't matter a jot. It's the price to change that's important
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

My usual dealer offered me £18.5K for mine, spec as below [10 plate]; it is MINT and only done 6K miles, that was trade in against a new R costing around £38K. I might not be realistic, but would expect to get about £19750 in a private sale.

Why not buy her a cheap smoker to run around in and keep the GTI for best? I use a 14 year old SEAT as a daily driver so my GTI stays nice.

I wonder how many beans or peas my BW8 2010 GTI with 4,880 miles will be worth?
