Get a polo.

X2.

Also a 306 pisses on a Clio.

306 are a bit more expensive though.

I was looking at some 1.9TD or 2.0HDI but then I just want to spend as little as possible on the actual car which will be bought from wages. I also know if I buy a 306 I will want to keep it and mod it further and my Golf will just get neglected.

I found mk1 clio's not too bad, had 2 1.4 RT models, not bad poke and wasnt to bad at 17 and 19 years old.

They did however both end in hedges, one after having the headgasket replaced 7 days earlier  :lipsrsealed:

We were all young once huh?

I hear what everyone is saying leave it alone and I honestly want to but I know it's pointless saying it as I know if some cheap second hand springs or shocks and springs pop up I'll grab them.

But regardless of that any experiance with the actual cars?

Cheers Dave.

Much difference between the 1.2 and 1.4 models?

My cinquecento was hilarious. It was the sporting, weighed 675kg and had 52hp and if anything ever broke I could get any part from a scrappy for less than a tenner.

Piss easy to work on too and proper handling, no power steering and mine was stripped out, lowered 60mm all round with seicento alloys, cherry bomb and induction kit.  :smug:

I crashed it so many times, painted it matte red with white duck tape racing stripes and it never let me down.

I only got rid of it because I looked like such a tosser in it.

Hmm have seen a couple. Saw one the other day for £245 buy it now, 12months MOT, 3 months tax, was  a CAT C but 50k miles! :o

What was it like on fuel. Heard they are bad if you rag them.

Which, coming from a 1.6 MK3, which I am going to say has a lot of poke COMPARED to all my mates first cars, I probably will.

Thing is, if your getting a <500 pound car, you cant expect much, the years ticket on it if it has one and thats that.

Buy a turd for 200 notes, dont spend anything on it whatsoever and drive it till it dies.

Thats if its money saving you want.

However, i know where your coming from with the 'eventually i will mod it', i say at the start of every ownership, this one can stay standard, its just what i want as it is, but after a few weeks, you know it will begin

Maybe the next one

only driven 1 mk1 clio and that was a tuned 1.8 so not really much help  :undecided:

What about 205's? Great cars imo

or renault 5, Easy as hell to work on.

alternatively, do as others have said, do an inbetweeners and get a fiat csqociensliotio

Fair enough.

205's are a look at actually cheers. Would just get a Corsa B as I have a soft spot but they're fetching lots of money (OK £400 is not lots but it is when you want an MOT failed car for a cheap run about and have seen loads that fit the bill for £200).

Didn't think about the 5 actually, cheers mate.

Haha get a yellow one with a red door.

That is something I like. Cheers.

That's all I want really, mainly if it's failed on something that looks small and turns out to be huge, that's the info I'm after.

I don't wanna go crazy, just literally the suspension and if they pop up some alloys with half decent tyres. I've got many an eBay bargain before and that's all this car will be. :)

Been driving about in a mates Corsa C, 1l. Absolutely hated it due to the suspension. Also hated the insanely gutless lawnmower engine but I'm expecting that. NOT hating the amazing fuel consumption recieved from the 1l though!
