18inch alloy wheels
« on: 04 September 2011, 21:47 »
Hello, i have just brought another golf mk4 1.8t and want to lower it and put 18 inch alloys on it as I did my old one. The man I brought the car from said putting 18 inch wheels on puts a strain on the engine and gear box and I wanted to know if this is true and if so what do I need to do to prevent engine damage, the wheels I had before where 225/40/18,much appreciated to have some feed back

Thanks

yeah see your point thanks, only asked because when the bloke said it, my dad(person who will be putting wheels on my car) was unsure about putting them on but put his mind at rest now thanks! will put some pics up soon.

Also any suggstions for some decent lowering springs for my golf? had coil overs on the last one and they were a nightmare so just want springs so any suggestions would be great

Thanks
