What about the R asker ?

I can't see VW using the 2.5 engine, that would mean a base R would cost £40k.....

Jim

I never thought of that
Was gonna keep the Gti till the mk7 R hoping that they would fit the 2.5 ?
Is the lag that bad on the current one, think I might have to get a test drive if I can find a demo

I'm surprised at AW1 post about driving a K04 equivalent recently and finding it lacking,

It may be due to the type of "test drive" the car was taken on. In traffic, the smaller turbo'd car would be more tractable. Some may say that a lesser powered diesel would be more suited to these sort of conditions. However, show the more highly tuned car a decent flowing B road with a driver who knows how to push the pedals, and you'll see what it has been designed to do.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

2.5 lump will be available in the Audi A3 Sportback. However, I understand that VW can be considering this engine in a Mk7 Golf GTI RS!

Hi,

Last weekend (not one just gone) there was a Steel Grey one in the showroom at Peter Cooper Portsmouth. I wasn't overly enamoured by it personally.
sssh; it's 'only a diesel'; but i love it!

MK6 GT140 TDi; DBP; Vancouvers; RNS510-D; Convenience pack; Storage pack; Philips Extreme Vision dipped bulbs; blue vision sidelights; red footwell lights; Yeti tips; GTD pedals; GTD gear lever; 'R' mats; RVC; Premium Bluetooth and some TLC.

Bumper, side skirts and PSI are different. I'd imagine the inside is different as well.
I don't think the 35 is that much dearer considering you get xenons as standard
