I'm with Asker on the wheels. Monza Shadows would have done nicely for me.

Overall, the Edition 35 is a very nice car.

I personally would still stick with my standard GTI over it primarily because I prefer the cloth seats (never really been a leather fan). Had they been like the Ed30's with the half leather, half cloth combo, then I would have been very tempted.

Apart from that the only issue I really have is the engine. It's not really going to make that much difference in day to day life but just knowing that the Ed35 has the old lump would always bug me a bit.

I think it's a cracking car though. Definitely one of the best hot hatches on sale now but like others, I'm waiting for the Mk7.

VW could have tried a bit harder with the Ed35 as this is supposed to be THE halo Mk6. Removing the iconic Jacara cloth seats completely from the spec is a mistake. Customers could surely have been given a choice of all cloth, part leather or full leather on this important run-out model.

I also agree with Penguin on the matter of the 'old lump' engine in the Ed35. Having driven one 2 weeks ago, I found it less flexible in traffic. In fact, I found it downright annoying. It was also more raucous under acceleration but not in a nice manner. Overall, the car did not feel any faster. Disappointing.

It's probably now prudent to wait for the MK7 GTI with an uprated version of the EA888 engine. I wonder when this will be available for UK consumption? Any further titivation of a Mk6 seems pointless IMO.
