what would you do

Just taken a M reg polo 1.6 GLX in part exchange with a supposed 13 months mot, weird how two tyres are in our opion ilegal and also the abs light on the dash doesnt light up, checked with vag com and both front sensors faulty. so appears to be a dodgey MOT,
would you report it and then the hassle of vosa inspecting the car taking it away etc. Or replace the bulb and the senors and the tyres and take it on the hip

possobly a bent MOT but TBH problay to much hasstel to bother doing anything about.   and at the end of the day you wouldn't have given a lot for an M reg polo so id just pass it on or scrap it
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

I would readjust the part x figure with previous owner to cover the repairs, tell them that VOSA could get involved, and the tester could loose his license, and end up in prison...

Thom, cant do that as deal is done, to be frank despite the hassle think I am going to contact vosa. As it was abs not working that cost me 9 points when I had an accident, 3 for driving a defective motor vechicle and 6 for driving with out due care as I knew the abs wouldnt work. So for an MOT to be granted on this car makes me mad. Also I reckon have a good case getting the mot test station to pay for the repairs as they granted the MOT. Also lets face it a garage doing dodgey MOT's shouldnt really be trading.

Rob, my reply was a little more than just an answer! This actually happened to an MOT tester that I know, and not so long ago, under VERY similar circumstance's, I'm not at all saying what he did was right, what I am sayingi is that finger pointing within the motor trade can be a very dark road to go down... proceed with caution :lipsrsealed:

Hmm on the fence with this one. My MOT was ever so slightly bent but after that weekend it was off the road, all work done, fine n dandy. MOT man knew that. As for a bent MOT to sell a car though, that's a bit harsh.

this happened to me with my car within a few weeks of purchase i went on the vosa site to check the mot and found it had failed on several items and with a huge advisory list on an mot taken a month before the one it had been given with a straight pass and no advisories  :shocked:
i then found it had holes in the floor that had been 'covered' over  :sick:
 took it back to the station that passed it and they sh@t themselves when i said i worked next to a vosa depot and would be leaving the car with them with all the relevant paperwork and their phone no.  :smug:
nxt day it went back to be 'repaired' to a safe standard to pass a real mot at their expense...
give them the earful they deserve it could cost someone's life.  :angry:

An MOT tester only goes by the warning lights on the dash regarding ABS. No light, no fail so its just the tyre scenario that seems a little dodgy, although if they checked the depth with mics and they were just in limit they should have at least been on an advisory list  :huh:

Your a car dealer and didn't check a px over = fail,

They could of quite easily changed the wheels if it had alloys on for steelies if they knew they were chopping it in :wink:
