Are these cars selling?
« on: 29 August 2011, 19:25 »
Hi
I am just wondering if these cars are selling now and if so what people are getting for them. Excuse me if this is the wrong place to ask but seemed appropriate.

I have an immaculate (yes another and I stand by it!) GTI Edition 30 5dr, DSG with 30k miles, and all the usual good selling points. I had it for sale at £13,500 and got no interest. These are cracking cars, but are there people buying them? I did a CAP valuation of my car which said Private Sale £14,650 - £15,250 and Trade In £11,800 - £12,600 so felt my price was OK and assumed I would drop it a bit in negotiation. But nobody seems interested!

Are other people having trouble selling or is it just me?

Thanks
Andrew

I had my O7 GTI with 13,000miles  and lots of options up for sale for near £14k, I had 1 person come out to see it, but did not buy due to him getting such a bad price for his Civic type-R. I then dropped the price by £1000 to just under £13k. Nothing for 2 days then had 1 person who was really interested rang, we agreed a price, then over the next few days I had about 10 interested people, I could not believe it. Anyway the car is now sold, alot less than what I wanted it to sell it for but, its sold.
I had a look ay your spec and pics and to be honest I think you would get a lot of interest if you priced it about £12600, the hardest part is getting people to come out and if your car is in as good condition as mine was, the first person to see will buy.

The cost of change and the general economic climate are probably big factors.

I would be looking for a ED30 right now BUT the uncertainty of how long it would take to sell my current car (and what price) means this plan is on the back burner.
Now = 2011 MK6 GTI - Reflex Silver
Past = 2006 MK5 GTI - Tornado Red and Solid Black

Are you desperate to sell? If not then just be patient. Someone will always come.

I had mine up for sale too, dropped the price a couple of times but no interest.  I'm going to hang on to it for the time being and change to something else next summer.

think the mk5 is very unfortuneate right now....

ignoring the "economic climate" and all that...

the hardcore dub enthusiasts want mk1/2 (3?)
the new car lovers want a mk6
and the mk5 is just a bit too expensive to buy over a cheaper 1.8t mk4

if someone REALY wants a mk5, i recon it would be an ED30
