Since buying the car I've had this problem, it hasn't really bothered me until now that I'm thinking about charging.
turn the key on ignition and it comes up with this

it swaps between these two every 3 seconds with ignition is on.
when i start it, it goes to 7000 rpm, but idles at 1000rpm

I was led to believe it was A ECU error by a friend.

really? I can't see how that would explain the rev counter to read 7000rpm at idle  :undecided:

Could be faulty clocks.

Could be faulty clocks.

I hope not because these clocks are on 30,000 miles.

Could I buy some 8v clocks, take them apart then swap what I need to, so I can keep the 30,000 mileage?

Dunno what would cause it, and I dunno what bits you would change in order to keep your milage, unless you get some new clocks and get the milage changed by a professional. It may only be on 30k, but some components begin to brake down over time, not just usage, so this could account for the problem anyway.

So apart from the clocks, what else can I look at that may cause this? Where does it pick up the revs from?

Has anyone got some clocks laying about so you can look at them for me and see if you can take them apart, or if they are a sealed unit?
