Everything has been fine up until a few days ago, started very quiet and has gradually got louder as ive used her which makes me think something is wearing out, Thats whats making me think bearing or cv

Unless the grease has come out of the cv then they don't usually make noise and when they do it's clicks. Sounds like it's only at one point on the wheel revolution. Does braking affect it?

When heavy braking the noise does quieten somewhat but is still present, my cv boots are all intact. Its fecking annoying i know that much :embarassed:

Have you jacked it up and just spun the wheel? Even better get it on a ramp and drive it, it would be easier to isolate the noise unless its only under load.

Agree with tshirt2k to doing a wheel swap, maybe from left to right, I've had tyres causing random noises but this is a new one!

Ye checked for rubbing, wheel bolt tightness etc etc, started about 4 days ago and has gradually got worse, my initial thought was wheel bearing but there is no play in the wheel and doesnt sound like the normal wheel bearing sound, the sound almost goes away on hard right.
the casing that holds the bearings in had cracked on my mk4 an you could only hear the noise when driving was no play in it either

Thanks for all the reply's people  I have a spare hub at home so im just going to change the whole thing rather than replacing one thing and then it being the other
Once I have my hub off I will strip it down to find out exactly what the problem is.

Apart from the bearing, theres not much to the hub. Can't see that being a cure unless the bearing is fooked. Get brad round to look & listen whilst you move back and forward. Sound like something is warped and rubbing. Rotate the wheel whilst on the jack etc.

OK, coming home tonight the noise is now getting louder and a can now feel there is something a miss in the pedals too
Everything ive checked up to press seems to be fine, nothing loose or rattly. I did notice that when the car is jacked up the noise is nearly non existant but disc catches the pad on one part of a revolution as if it is warped slightly  :undecided:
I dont have the time to take it all apart again before the weekend so it looks as tho im car-less AGAIN!!! until then
