Not that much more power though, it's a lot of effort with doing the gearbox as well for quite a small gain imo. Will the 16v be staying standard?

Spot on, does not make a lot of sense for the gains.

end of the day better power gains and more tinkering because u have the possibility to also supercharge the VR but then u need to consider better stopping power tho

But i thought the 16v was supposedly better and faster in every single way compared to an 8v , sorry couldn't resist.

I think they're saying it's not worth it in the fact you can just buy a 16V.

Sometimes it is worth it though, I'm converting TO 8v.

It's ok i was just being an ars*, if you just want to tinker i would have thought it would be more interesting/cost effective to go down another route to this.

I liked my old 8v lump, was a good unit not that slow either.. was as quick as the 16v car i got for the gearbox..

id prob not bother converting from 8v to 16v  (unless your 8v lumo has died?)  other wise id go 20vt (can be expensive to do)  or VR6 it (can be done cheap)  we did Benvictors and the car moves well, its much better than a valver thats for sure
