running issue
« on: 18 August 2011, 10:52 »
ok so im looking to sell my golf, just getting it ready for mot.the car has not moved in a long time so thought i would give it a blast down the road to blow out the cobwebs.had a running issue before which turned to be a split vacum hose which i sorted and seemed to run ok for while.
the car runs fine when plodding along but as soon as you floor it the car seems to pull back on accelaration.i have changed plugs and usaul suspect like coil crank sensor and lots of senors and relays, but still pulling back.
any bright ideas anyone???????

dizzy cap and arm?

Clean the throttle body and the MAF too.
You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.

doubt it's ECU, and the ECU on the mk3's doesn't seem to show faults really.  I think later generations are better at that.

Spark plug leads?

All other hoses ok?

cool.  Suggest the GSF ones for the GTI - running them on my 8v (114bhp) - 118bhp on recent RR. :-)  Don't buy the cheap and nasty's.

Air filter?

yeah they do gti and non gti leads, but gti ones are nicest. (unless you have a VR6 of course!)

I think they are "I think its part “92631F” desc “IGNITION LEAD SET-BQ G3 1.6/1.8/2.0 GTI 8V”"

but get the 16v ones (as I think its a 16v you have?)
