Help i grounded out
« on: 16 April 2005, 21:31 »
just grounded my car as i was doing a 3point turn in the road i purposly went a bit on some grass to save doing as many turns, but the grass was slightly downhill so it grounded out quite hard,i  managed to drive it off the dip but now i get vibrations all through the car and as the revs get higher they worsen, is there any ideas of what iv done? i cant see any holes in the exhaust?

please help me

You moved the exhaust so that it's rubbing against the bodywork/heatsheild?

Worth checking the gap and pulling it away a bit.

When it rubs it sounds like the whole car is vibrating / buzzing

u need a big 4 post ramp take it to your garage for the tracking doing and have a good look underneath whilst its up tracking is most obvious or bent tie rods etc best to check the longer it goes the more expensive it gets  also check engine mounts and sump etc get under  and have a look with a trolley jack and axle stands you can do it!!!

Probably got lost in the "Great Crash of 08

when it grounded it was about in the middle of the car so i dont think it would have damaged angine mounts or tracking would it? as i was only doing about 5mph,

on closer inspection before, this is from trying to get my head under to have a look, i noticed the lug on the exhaust behind the mid box is an inch further up towards the manifold than the lug on the car body and the rubber holder between them has snapped?

well, i took it to quick fit and they have found that it has peen pushed forward and has bent slighty and therefor part of it is hitting the steering rack, dropping it off 2moz to see if they can heat it up and bend it back

otherwise its a new front down pipe
