Tax you on the way to work, tax you at work, tax you on the way home...rule brittania.

It's rediculous isn't it. Taxed because we own a car, taxed on the fuel, taxed on the maintenance, to drive to be taxed on what we earn.
80% of your posts are total tripe, as they are mostly replies to sh1te posts created by the morons that, unfortunately this forum attracts.

What pissed me off the most is my journey is only 12 miles, but takes me the best part of 1Hr45m each way to do it. 3 hours of my life I have to spend sitting on a sh!tty train crammed in like sardines. Then to only have to pay MORE for the same sh!tty privilege?

It's 12 miles.

Get off your fat ass and do it quicker on a bike, save money and improve your fitness too.

What's not to like?

Biking isn't necessarily more healthier. There are loads at work that cycle into work and the majority have been in a serious accident. I'm talking about broken bones and surgery serious.

London is like the Running Man, if you get off with only one over the bars moment a year you are very lucky.

I got a train to work a few days back.....

Mrs Doc had to drop me off, then the train / tram combo took 2 hours to get to work, cost for this "fun" £10 quid for the train then the tram to work cost another £3.60 so a total of £13.60 and two hours travelling time after Mrs Doc had dropped my off.

In my car it takes 1 hour and costs in fuel around £3.26 (ish)

the problem in London is parking. If I were working outside of London then I would drive. Much more comfy

Current cost - £728.90 per month for me!
Takes and hour on the train, if they run on time!

Network Rail own and operate the track and Infrastructure. Owned by us! And we pay for it out of our taxes.
Train Operating Companies - Privately owned and they set the fares.

The trains should also be brought back into public ownership and we might then have a chance of getting a decent rail service!

Not quite true Len. A large proportion on fares are regulated and can only increase with permission. Iirc its inflation + 3%.

24 miles day in day out to get to work, literally risking my life for it? No thanks.

People 'think' that when they hear london and bikes its just everyone complaining about 'oh its unsafe'. The fact is, its not just some over hyped stuff on the news, it literally is that dangerous. Not because of you as a cyclist or even if your a driver. People just dont see you as things are so fast paced/rushed in london traffic.

My ass isnt fat either thank you :D haha. I ride regularly... just not in london.

The original fares were set by the TOC's and set high because they knew that certain fares would be regulated.
