Vancouvers replaced today....BUT
« on: 15 August 2011, 22:05 »
Well sorry VW Cheltenham but....

You replaced my two whitewormed Vancouvers (well actually Ebley did that) but managed to put the rear tyre on the front 7mm and the front tyre on the back 2mm (so they did match the drivers side - strike 1).  Although, I did manage to spot that one before leaving the car park, had to wait another 45 minutes whilst they took it back to Ebley to have them switched around. (No idea why they just didn't stick it on there own ramp and do it).

But then after a short trip up the Mway and back to test the wheel balancing...I spotted the copper grease and dirt all over the back seats ( - strike 2 ), where they had just thrown in the old wheels straight on the back seat. Not impressed that shows no respect for the vehicle.  The old wheels should have gone into the boxes that the new ones came in.

Also, at 22,500 miles ( 1yr 4months old).  I have been informed that I have a leaking front shock absorber (normal non-acc one) that costs nearly £240 to be replaced ( be warned GTD owners  ).  Was booked in for friday (cancelled now - as I found the mess on the back seat) it will now be going somewhere else for the warrenty work to get done.

(Even though the mess was cleaned off the back seat the chemicals they used I swear are making my eyes bleed and giving me a headache).

So all in a shoddy job. (Although the service team were as polite as pie and very good about the whole thing).

p.s. On a good note the little Polo S 60ps 3dr I had for a couple of hours was actually quite good.

I know, tomorrow I will be inspecting the underside to see if the underseal is damaged as per your other post, especially if Ebley did it. Do you think VW would have taken the rubber jack points with them and had ebley install them prior to lifting. I doubt it. (Do VW even use them?)

The other interesting fact is was it was Valeted before the wheels were changed. Otherwise the mess would have been cleaned off and it would have looked like a good job apart from the chemical smell. FAIL! (They were more interested in inspecting a 1yr old car for more work they could get, which I believe would have heppened first).

Im told by a source some VW dealers just use the original generic round rubber pads on the wheel free ramps. Were some dealers have U shaped inserts to fit on the sills.
I also have a marked plastic interior door panel which i have not mensioned on the forum (until now).

Well I've just had my golf back from getting the electric mirror switch replaced.

First time round they kept it overnight for the car to be returned with the electric window switch replaced. Upon re-examining the vehicle the mechanic established that the electric mirror switch would need replacing and that he would need to fix this under warranty. (Duh!)

Second time round they had managed to fix the problem... but today (about a week on) we have noticed that they have removed said switch with a screwdriver and damaged both the switch surround and the soft door card. Not a happy bunny.

The car's due a service and some other warranty work (the rear VW badge is bubbling now   ) and I'm going to be giving the car a very close inspection when it comes back to see if things have actually been done (like the oil change).

I've lost a bit of confidence in VW as a brand. Partly this is due to the vehicle having had so many niggles (It's still less than two years old) but predominantly my loss of confidence is down to the service department.

When my GT came back from the dealers, they had managed to get all 4 directional tyres facing the wrong direcetion.

Also, a couple of weeks ago I had a problem with my old Passat V6 TDI whilst away on holiday. A power steering pipe popped off and p1ssed all the fluid out. Anyway, the dealer I managed to limp to was very accomodating when it came to fixing the car, but when it came back, they had re-fitted the foglights to the wrong brackets so they sat too far in, not put the front bumper back on squarely, and get this, as part of their so many point check, adjusted the pressures of all 4 tyres down to the correct psi for a 1.9 TDI. Way lower than required for my 2.5.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.
