White dial kits
« on: 15 August 2011, 19:41 »
I've always wanted the white dials you find in some higher spec mk3's but don't' want a mileage change so I thought about getting one of these kits.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOLKSWAGEN-VW-GOLF-Mk3-1991-1999-WHITE-DIAL-KIT-/120709181224?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c1ad3ef28

Dirt cheap right? :P

Well my question is my car 1.4 CL and the dials are 0-140mph which is fine but the revs side is completely different to any I can find! It goes from 0-6000rpm and the dials are either 7 or 5? Could I get a 7,000rpm kit or will that "not read correctly" obviously I know when to change gear but I want the rest of the dials to read correctly :)

What do you think?  :undecided:

personally id say stay with the spec that is original to the car, yes the revs would be inaccurate.

iv had a look and i think the only way to get your dials white is to change the clocks. iv just had a search myself. unless someone on here has already done it and they post up some links

one thing i want to know is whats the best way to make your needles the glowing orange colour.

Have a look in the maint section. A few have changed leds and backlit the needles to glow different colours but I cant be arsed to find the link!  Another way to light the needles is to use florescent paint on em.

Sold the car with these in, really should have swapped them and let someone else have them

Ive purchased uv fishing float paint in the past, the colour is spot on. Failing that there's,also a seller on eBay based in the USA that sells proper UV needle paint for a few quid which I've also had and tbh there wasn't much difference in colour or night visibility.

These are the proper clocks that you are looking for : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-GOLF-MK3-SPEEDO-SPEEDOMETER-1H0-919-913-C-/270732816240?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f08eeef70

Ive been a bit of a speedo geek since I've owned this last mk3 and seem to keep aquiring different ones to pull apart or modify.
I've now got a couple of standard ones, 1 8v Annie set, 1 16v Annie set and another set of 16v with silver lockwood faces and tweaked lighting. LOL  :nerd:

Thanks, damn they're cheap :O but I'd rather keep my original mileage hence the dial kit :( though these are very tempting indeed
