buy some underbody seal!
« on: 13 August 2011, 21:39 »
Cutting the storey short I used some underbody seal on my sill's today. They are fine only having done 30,000 miles but was showing some small signs of surface rust. So I got some body seal knowing that they can rust away  I also done all four arches and done pretty much the whole two front inner wings lol

Basically I'm telling you lot to check yours and protect them now before it gets too late. all ya need is a wire brush and a tin of body seal

My vr6 has done 82,000 and it need some work due to rust  just wish someone had looked after it early on

You really need to treat the rust 1st with something that neutralises it. Otherwise it will still continue to travel under the factory sealant. In the process of sorting mine. The gti plastic sill covers do a good job of trapping mud and water. So that's where it starts around the wheel arches.

Waxoyl is not as good a bilt hambers dynax s50, which runs everywhere.

You want underbody wax. Dinitrol or dynax UB.

agreed you want dinatrol or bilt hamber , waxoil is worthless it just hides stuff and lets it carry on rusting

After rust treating i use this stuff. It goes on nice and thick, has a sort of bounce to it when stones etc hit it and wo'nt ever come off. It's real messy to work with though.Wear gloves and mask anything off you do'nt want it on.Petrol will remove any unwanted stuff. Also works well on bonding headlight lenses.Did i say it was messy ?.IT IS VERY MESSY !.Takes 24 hours to cure fully.
