Lolz at everyone being a Military R&D specialist all of a sudden.

Ummm Exocet, Falklands War? :rolleyes

Chalk and cheese Len.

The Exocet was designed for hitting small ships.  The Chinese DF-21d is a big can of whoop ass better.

The Exocet is 4.7m long, weighs about 670kg and carries a single 165 kg warhead.  It skims the surface of the sea and has a range of 40 miles.  It would take 10's of these to take down a carrier, but thats provided the launching aircraft/ship get close enough to do so.

The DF-21d is a ballistic missile, an ASBM.  Same type of missile as trident.

It is 10m long, weighs about 14.5 tonnes and carries multiple warheads. It has a range of 900 miles. Unlike the Exocet, it is land launched and goes up into the atmosphere, before descending onto target.  Even the US hasn't got a guidance system sophisticated enough to do this, but apparently the Chinese have.

Now that's a big can of whoop ass right there.

The Chinese must have copied it from somewhere as they cant design on their own :lipsrsealed:
I often wonder why people never expect sarcastic comments from me - they're the only reason I speak...

Tomahawk, Patriot, and countless ICBM's developed in the 40/50/60's tell me that America has had this kind of ability for a long time.
Just look at the guided bombs and space missions for precise guidance systems.....

American strategy has been to use air power to take out shipping and other targets, Tomahawk and Harpoon are the only real dedicated anti ship missles the yanks have used.
If the Chinease have this weapon then the Americans have one or a defensive capability for it.
The American Military may be the butt of jokes because of the grunts on the ground, but never underestimate them or their ability to achieve.

Hmm..  but not the ability to hit a tiny fast moving spec in a vast ocean, from space.

Yeah granted but, if we found out about it last week when do you think the yanks crapped themselves? 5 years ago?

Seen a lot of stealth ships of late.......
