garage wouldn't steam clean my engine

hi guys,

took my car to the local garage today and asked them to steam clean my engine and he said... i wouldn't advise it your car will probably miss after a steam clean, have anybody here had there engines cleaned? and did your car miss at all?

to be honest... i think he couldn't be bothered

Hes talking sh!te. Worth covering up electricals, which I did, then pressure washed mine! Cant see a little steam doing too much damage as long as you steer clear of coil pack, dizzy, and spark plugs. Try somewhere else, and cover those up when you get there. No excuse for them not to do it then.

i thought as much :angry: he made me feel like i was walking away with my tail between my legs,

my bother-in-law got a steam cleaner but he never got time to do it, going to ask him every day until he gets fed up with me  :laugh:

I steam cleaned mine,  It misfired all the way home from work,   then it was fine so i took it 70 miles up the road and it died all together, £65 tow fee later...  I fitted a spare coil pack and bobs your uncle.   The morral of the story is,  the coil packs fail well enough without the help of water, so keep it well covered up.   Otherwise, worth keeping the dizzy dry too.   but yea its fine.   WD40 all the electrical connectors,  do it before its wet to keep water out,  otherwise it locks water in  :smiley:

be careful of the crank sensor wires too

ok, will cover much as i can, got WD40 ready and going to cover coil pack etc with food bags then tape them up at the bottom, fingers crossed it will be all ok :smiley:

A garage won't want to do it because if something packs up you will be going straight back to complain.
Can't really blame them...
