I live way down in the West Country and I grew up in the '80s when Thatcher was cutting everything like Cameron et al are doing now.
There were riots in Bristol, Liverpool and London back then which were politically motivated and these started to spread around the country. Even the local housing estate kids around where I live were talking about starting riots in sleepy Devon. The same thing is happening all around the country now and the kids didn't have mobile phones and the internet back then.
The initial unrest may be politically or socially motivated but once it gets going and becomes national news people just get caught up in the excietment of it all and all the youngersters around the country want a bit of the action and it spreads a bit like a fever. It makes me smile to think those out on the streets now are probably the feral kids of the feral scum that rioted in the 80s. Nothing changes but the dates.

Rumours southampton is going to kick off tonight. I have to pick my mum up from the coach station later in the night, hopefully I won't run into trouble otherwise trouble will be run over by some Toyo rubber.

kellywild i agree with you about council tenants, most of the tenants i visit on a day to day basis are hard working and just getting by like most of us.

the problem with the youths and other  scum doing this is they have no sense of society and decency, people can bleat on about the youths lack of opportunity and prospects but that is utter nonsence, most of it is down to parenting and the values you gain from good parents.

if your parents have a dole scrounging dont give a stuff attitude then its only natural youngsters are going to emulate what they have learned from their own blood, if you add in these feral scum putting peer pressure on their more gullible mates and the fact they feel untouchable and the lack of any real punishments then they will run riot to get what they cant get thru normal hard work.

lack of true physical discipline in schools at a secondary school stage has been the major underlying factor in where we are today. you always used to get the hardnuts that would take any punishment but the majority would toe the line thru fear of pain, now there is no fear of physical hurt
the idiots that have been on the news demanding respect from adults and police sum it all up really.
respect, as i was taught, was always earned thru your actions and how you treat people around you.

yesterday i was in a flat changing a meter listening to 2 chav scum laughing about what had happened over the weekend while smoking dope, it honestly took all my willpower to not react to them and threaten them with a pipe wrench just to see them in fear

Its the old nature vs nurture arguement i suppose... I grew up in a violent home where my mother was an alcoholic... I had 1 younger sister and 2 younger brothers... £ of us are upstanding citizens and have never been in trouble a single day in our lives... We have good jobs and have chosen to learn a good lesson from our negative experiences... My youngest brother however decided to blame the whole world for everything that as ever gone wrong in his life and it wouldn't surprize me if i turned on the t.v tomoro to see images of him on my t.v screen... it goes without saying that none of us think much of his choices or his perspective on life but it does leave you with the question why wwe turned out ok and he didn't????  :undecided: its a mystery... Alll i know is that i can't see any positive outcome from all this violence it needs to be stopped... And quickly!!!!! By whatever means necassary
