changing rear pads and discs - easy or pay someone?
« on: 03 August 2011, 20:47 »
The GTi goes in for an MOT at the end of the month and the rear pads and discs need changing. VW want £229 fitted.

I've had a look at the online guides and it looks ok to do but i've not got my hands dirty for years. Also, where would I get the parts from (TPS won't sell as not trade) so which actual items are the OEM ones on Eurocarparts.

Any help much appreciated!

Hi mate

In terms of pads, I would recomend the Pagid ones - Pagid are a OE manufacturer and the TMD group supply a lot of VAG models from the factory

If you pop your reg online, the rears should be simple to find

And don't forget the 25% Forum discount :D

This forum just keeps getting better and better, I had no clue that we got a discount on Euro Car Parts ha ha!

I need a set of front and rear pads and disks. I have an 05 GTI and after putting in my reg I am confronted with a few choices from Pagid. I was looking at the front disks first but I am confussed as to which ones I need? They are all different thicknesses and stuff, and because it is brakes I am after I want to make sure I get the right ones.

Sorry to highjack the thread, and thanks in advance.
Mrk V, GTI, 3dr, DSG, heated seats, winter pack, cruise control, rear parking sensors and now thanks to GizzyWizzy and SteveP in the MK6 section a RCD 510. Awesome!
