LOL - so - they didnt produce a 16V Colour Concept?

I look at my V5, and i see:

Have the DVLA got it wrong? Or am i the idiot who cudnt tell if it is 8V or 16V.

Looking through the docs yesterday night - they all list it as 16V........

"Also in late 1995 VW introduced the Mk3 Golf GTI 8v 'Colour Concept' which combined a limited range of body colours with matching leather Recaro interiors, all based on the 8v Mk3 Golf GTI. The Salsa Green and Yellow cars proved very difficult to sell when new as a car with just a body colour like this has a limited market let alone when the interior is equally as 'exuberant'. Flash Red and Jazz Blue (very different to the MkIV Golf shade) were reasonably popular and Diamond Black, which in a way made a mockery of the whole idea was the pick of the bunch as a black Golf GTI with a heated black leather Recaro interior is the essence of desirability and good taste. Silver instruments dials were common to all the colours and are not too unsightly. This model carried on to the end of Mk3 Golf production and was never available with the 16v engine which in a way is a pity. The Colour Concept returned with the Mk4 Golf but this time in both Cabrio and hatchback versions."

mosdef... you dont know if its a 16v or not?! pop the bonnet...

and look for a big shiny thing with "DOHC 16v" cast in it

here's a pic of my engine bay.. http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=36&pos=5

from the outside.. on a 16v there should be badges in the following locations.

- front grille red '16v' badge.. often missing. about a fiver from VW.
- side trims by the rear wheel arches should have "GTI" badges on both sides
- the back of the car should have "Golf GTI" and underneath in small red "16v"

if you have red seatbelts, silver dials etc  its a anniversary model..

so what u got?

The car's gone in for the cambelt and service etc.

It has silver dials - but no red belts.

Looking at your engine bay (nice) - mine is different - so its probably the 8V   :embarassed: - but i shall chk again....

Outside - on the sides it says Colour concept and on the heated recaros it says Colour concept.

"and to my knowledge the mk3 leather seated cars dont have recaro's"

My Recaros are heated and leather and in a MK3  - Which if im honest - made me buy the car

What wheels have you got mosdef?

9 spoke gti ones or 6 spoke bbs solitudes?

A VR6 isn't a way of life, it's just a car.

Not only the V5 but all the service history (VW) and some other documents all list the car as 16V. I forgot to actually ask the Owner  :embarassed:

Although driving it i would bet my life its a 8V. Iv asked the guys doing the service to check it out.

Well whatever it is - i cant wait to really open it up...

Im not sure about the wheels mate - i forgot....  :lipsrsealed:

P.S. This is my first VW - as no doubt you have noticed
