work for british gas as a meter engineer, i really enjoy the work as always at a different house and my area altho quite big, is fairly easy to  get about, i get a fully tooled up van and fuel paid for, i dont pay parking tickets so park wherever i like within reason, pay is not that great but atm its enough, and after 5months in the field i have just gained a bit of promotion and a bit more money. all in all im pretty chuffed doing my job, however as with alot of the posts in this thread management just dont seem to have a clue, i really do  wonder sometimes just how much of their brains they have cut out when they don that white collar and tie

Yea it's not bad, pretty varied from day to day, month to month. Get to work on things by myself sometimes, sometimes big projects as part of a team. Get the opportunity to lead on projects too which is great. Manage my own time, am out and about most of the time doing different things and meeting people which is great as I hate being stuck in the office all day. Best of all is the people I work with, they are absolute stars (with a few exceptions!)

About to have a huge restructure though, joining a new massive team and losing a lot of my friends to other teams so bit nervous/sad about that

I come up with creative ways to mass produce diesel engines. Focusing mainly on leak testing and final assembly including paint.

If you know Peterboro, you'll know who the manufacturer is :lipsrsealed:

Stop covering the fuel pumps with paint. That's a good way to do it. It's a right pain in the arse to check them out when you lot return them after they have been painted.

I love my job! I'm a supervisor lifeguard at the UK's biggest and oldest outdoor pool and everyday is awesome. Some days go a bit slower than others but I'm never bored. We always manage to find something to do, be it pi$$ing about or actually working, hell I even go to work on my days off! Both of my managers are awesome, I get on really well with them and the same goes to the whole lifeguarding team. Even though we only know each other since april we're already like a group of real good friends both in and out of work. Days with great weather are just pure awesome, what's not to like about covering yourself in some tanning oil and sitting in a vest on poolside for 5 or 6 hours a day?....

Sounds easy but it's actually pretty hard, you can't just wonder off into another dimension and sit back and enjoy the sun. You have to concentrate hard the whole time and see everything that's going on. Easy in a small pool but when you've got 113m x 47 it's pretty difficult.

Sounds good but what do you do in the winter?

I've only just started working as a lifeguard in April, when the pool opened. However through hard work I've been promoted to supervisor which has opened my doors to the local leisure centre. Most of the pool's staff works there as gym instructors and lifeguards which is what I'm chasing up. I've applied for the supervisor position there starting in september when the pool closes and my assistant manager is best friends with one of the leisure centre's managers who is responsible for recruitment. I've met him already so that's a start. Hopefully for winter it'll be lifeguard/gym instructor

I can arrange for each pump returned to be accompanied by a can of thinners iof it helps!

Yeah Perkins it is.....
