I have the VW roof bars got them on ebay for my mk5 and they fit the mk6 (same roof). I paid £19.99 with the instructions and the key.  Easy to fit they work and the VW bike bit fits. Good build quality too.

Wheel bags??? What's wrong with an old sheet over them in the corner of the shed?

I live in a flat with no garage or shed, and the Mrs is a Stickler for tidyness, it's going to be a set of new coffee tables.

The wheel bags are great:

I have 4 sets now I think, and my folks use them for their winter wheels too.
They are marked for each corner of the car which helps for wear/directional tyres etc, and the little pockets hold the wheel bolts should you need non-standard bolts.

They velcro round, adjust up and have handles which means you can carry them about easily whilst the majority of the wheel is protected.

I keep my spare/winter/track wheels in bags. clean them up after use, wax them, pump the tyres up, and pop them into bags. The bags are great.

The Audi ones are the same but all black...

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

I was thinking exactly the same thing, I just hope my Tyre fitters better than Button's crew at the weekend. EPIC FAIL!

I have recently purchased the VW Roof Bars, and Cycle Carrier from Volkswagen. The roof bars are excellent, very easy to fit as it usually takes me less than 10 minutes for both and once on they are solid - worth the money. Like ajmoir36 I purchased mine from eBay (new), but for quite a bit more than £20!

The cycle carrier however I have found to be utter rubbish, and I paid full price for it (still trying to get rid of it now). With my bike loaded on it, and strapped down the best it could be and the support in the correct place the bike still wobbled and just didn't sit in the holder correctly. From speaking with other people who use the carrier on their cars, all opinions I have found to be the same - rubbish.

I couldn't recommend more that you get a Thule Proride 591 alongside the VW roof bars for carrying bike(s), to set up both and drive off I can usually do it in 20 minutes and the bike is very stable with the 591, much more than what the VW Cycle Carrier was.

Hope that helps.

I have used my VW roofbars and VW cycle holders (3) for the last few years on both the Mark 5 and the Mark 6, never had a moments bother, and very stable, even over the recommended speed  so I would recommend them. As usual VW over-engineer stuff so the quality is superb.
