I would say the 130 is the best all rounder. Don't suffer from camshaft wear quite as much, higher torque than the 150 and less boost pipes to blow off.

the 130 is the better engine but very peaky compared to 150
i've had both and the 150 has a noticably longer torque curve but 130 is more eager

It's not a better engine, its the same engine basically.

Better torque curve means nothing after a remap

better choice is what i meant

Not sure why you think they are a better choice the 150 is a great engine, never had any problems with mine and it has done 125k, i have owned it for 4-5 years.

more of them to chose from ...... wider use in VAG range

I've go the 150 now - i think it's great
now as frugal as the 130 but goes like a train

I'm not scared of cam probs / turbo probs etc I kow car will be serviced right
using correct spec oil.

Some say that the 150 doesn't map as well.....how?
bigger turbo and injectors and FMIC.

The weak point there is the clutch is same 240mm unit used in 130pd.

My car apprently has a mild remap (clutch friendly) It kept up with a heavily mapped Ibiza
cupra Tdi and didn't smoke like a tug boat

Injectors are the same I believe

You get more bhp out of a 130; upto 50bhp in some cases whereas the 150 tends to make about 30-40bhp

Also the 130 tends to make more torque; most of the 150's seem to struggle to make over 300lbs ft torque  :undecided:

Certainly the 170 engine in my Audi doesn't produce as much torque as my old 130 and the driving experience is very different.

i had an octavia VRS Pd- i didn't thnk the map made much difference
130pd's do map very well. Had 3 ........in past

With a 170 engine??

Didn't have a choice with the Audi as I wasn't the first owner lol.  It only had 1 service in 24,000 miles before I bought it
