Hi guys, can anyone link me to some information or describe the TDI models as I have a few questions...

There were 115ps, 130ps and 150ps models? I'm thinking the 130 model is best to go with for economy/performance?

I've heard 'PD' engine mentioned what does that mean? can anyone tell me more about the different engines used? pro's/con's

What models had the 6 speed gearbox? and what was the standard spec of each model?

Thanks.
I'm looking to buy a 2002/3 black 5dr 130 model with leather and climatronic, the leather I guess I could add later.

To start with the non-PD engines are
60BHP SDI Non-turbo
90BHP
110BHP(SE, GT TDI)

PD
100BHP
115(6 Speed)(SE, GT TDI)
130(6 Speed)(Highline, GT TDI)
150(6 Speed)(Highline, GT TDI, GTI)

This is all I can remember and what engine comes in what specs and trim.

What is PD,
Quote
The term translates from German directly as 'unit injector', and refers to the method of fuel delivery used by all modern Volkswagen diesel engines. Conventional diesels have one fuel pump, but this system has four.

This means that the fuel can be more highly pressurised, and used more efficiently by the engine.

Volkswagen says the benefits of Pumpe Duse include a high power output, coupled with low emissions and excellent fuel efficiency.

I would say the 130 is the best all rounder. Don't suffer from camshaft wear quite as much, higher torque than the 150 and less boost pipes to blow off.

Really? Didn't know that. Thought they all came in 6speed in the Bora and Golf and 5speed in Pissrats?

It wasn't on the options list on the 130.

Spec wise have a look here - http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/equipment/Detail.aspx?deriv=21556#amount=16255&years=3

Thought it was the 115's that were 5 and 6 speed?  :undecided:

I know the 130 engine in the Audi's were 5 speed only
