Am a mk4 owner and thinking of changing to a MK6 having spoken to VW. But does the same apply to mk6's as mk4's that 2.0L's Golf GTI / GTD is slow?
I have a 1.9 at min 130 but stage 1 remap and want power and want to stick to dervs.
You've not done much research have you? Why would you think a turbo'd 210bhp car would be as slow as a 115bhp normally aspirated barge with 1970s rear suspension and the steering responses of the Ark Royal?
The mk6 (and mk5) may weigh a bit, but I Ess_three has hit the nail on the head with the dynamics side of it.
GTI or GTD? Only you can decide that. The GTI needs a remap really as it's just a tad too refined. It's fast enough as standard but doesn't give you a kick.
The GTD is not like the old PD 1.9 engines. It sounds less Diesel like, revs much more smoothly and doesn't have that 8v kick in the back.
If I were to wind the clock back to when I bought mine, this time round I'd go for the GTD with a remap.
Well if I'm honest I probably wouldn't go for either but I won't harp on about that again!! Lets just say it'd be the same engine and chassis with a different shell.
