squealing when turning wheel ?

noticed today when out in the gti that if im stood still in traffic or at junctions etc or even going off the drive
if i turn the wheel with out any gas i get a squealing sound come from the wheels any ideas ? power
steering fluid is full ?

is it at full lock, if so you might just be putting the steering pump under alot of pressure

sorry no not under full lock i would say about half lock ?

Yeah you can do it at home its easy enough to but if you can get hold of an haynes manual then would be easier

I got this problem and the power steering fluid is full, so i'm guessing I need the same part. I found this but it says vr6 non-air-con. How toes the power sterring belt affect the air-con. And i'm guessing it won't be compatible with a 1.6 cl - correct me if i'm wrong  :wink:

check the belt for wear first. if it looks ok just tighten it up from the tensioner. easy job!
