be sure to tell them if your motor has power steering when buying a new one, but also try adjusting the belt first, as said above.

Just put the new belt on the same way the original went on... take a picture of how the old  one goes on for refference. But yeah a guide could still be useful. I'm going to do this job soon as well.

It tells you in this guide.

Its a piece of pi$$ really. Slide under car, remove splash guard. Loosen 2 10mm bolts. Loosen the 17mm bolt (i think its 17mm). Couple of gentle taps with a hammer will swing the pump back and forth. Remove belt, put new one on, and in true haynes style, refitting is the reversal of removal.

Small engined golfs are a bit different, as the main serpentine belt on those runs everything. On those, you whack a spanner on the auto adjuster to loosen it, and pull belt off. Then reverse it.

Job done

If you've got a haynes its page 2B7 its called an Auxiliary V-belt which is why you might not be able to find it. I need to change mine and my ribbed belt.

Different on your model sir. Assuming you have the AEE 1.6 engine. They're under £20 from VW. Just a case of hold a 15mm (I THINK) spanner and tun the tensioner (springloaded) away, take off the belt, put the new belt on.

The tension is automatic.

Where all my moneys went.
