Hi guys.....Here i go again, Mk2 16v lump.....

Hopefully you can read whats in the picture below but just in case have added text underneath aswell......

When this connector is connected the car ticks over fine.... but when you blip the throttle it seems to choke itself and then dies! It wont start then, but if you disconnect it, it will start again fine. It hunts a little but timing has been checked and is fine....

This microswitch seems to affect the above.....what is it called? and is there any easy fix?

Cheers folks

I think it has somthing to do with the idle stabilisation valve stuff, check your three temp senders on the r/h side of the head, two of them control the tickover, one is for your temp gauge.

Also there is a valve and stuff on the back of the meter head that might cause you some trouble

that switch tells the idle system when the throttle is closed /open

kinda sounds like the switch is busted or gummed up so the engine thinks its idleing when it isnt

listen if its clicking every time you move the thrott , if it is check with the multimeter that its working

Bang on - Turns out the idle switch was wired back to front hence not running when connected, its not an original part and they are according to a local garage now obsolete, so it's now been rewired and runs sweet as a nut......

Cheers guys
