Well VERY productive day today, the weather turned out to be brilliant and managed to get a lot done.
My mate didnt turn up until 10.30 and i was worried that we wouldnt get all we had to do done. Dont know why i was worried really.
Yesterday i went around stripping the doors of all the interior bits and exterior handles and ground up around where the new handle should be going and also ground up around the fuel cap ready to start straight away.

So we marked up where we thought the handle should be located by looking at pictures ive saved of other cars with these fitted. Not an exact science but it seemed to work. Then we started cutting into the doors.
No going back now!!

Definately no going back

So after a little bit of trial and error on the first one checking and checking loads more that it sat level and didnt foul anything and more importantly that it could be operated with the windows down (heard some horror stories on Vortex) we then welded the first one in

Phew!!!! Looking good though, and after this the other side slotted into place a lot quicker just following the same procedure and exact measurements

Then whilst i was trimming up the panel containing the TT filler cap, my mate Al quickly welded in my bonnet notch piece that i had made up.
Then i set about cutting a whopping hole in the rear quarter, this is where things could have gone horribly wrong.

Double checking it sat straight

And then finally fitted into place

Will get some better pics of this finished over the weekend. I am chuffed with the progress we made today the handles make all the difference, i just need to make up the bar that will connect to the latch to actually open the doors.
Bit of grinding up and fillering to be done but its now heading in the right direction.
