putting oil in the cyls won't tell you if the rings are ok or not

Why not? isn't that the haynes way to do it??


if you just put oil in the cyls  to see if it soacks down through you'll be waiting a long time.



Yeah i think i guessed that after my last post. Wires crossed, i was thinking compression test.
I must stop drinking  :grin:

I would also go for keeping the head in place. I was thinking about doing the seals on mine when the head was off until i read up on doing it in situe.p

mates taking head off for me tomorrow and doing stem seals gonna refresh the whole head give it a good clean up and put a stainless manifold on general top end rebuild and see how car goes
