Hurdy: you can't be serious? The Polo just looks wrong.
If you are going for a cramped shoe box, there are better ones like the Renault Cleo Cup, The Citroen DS3 Racing, The Mini Cooper in JCW guise.
Please don't do a James Gould on us.
Get a Mk6, either a GTI, a GTD, an R or a GTI Ed35.
Failing that, get a Fiat 500 Ferrari. You might as well go super cramped.

Really?

I quite like it!

Polo GTI

MKVI Golf GTI

Okay the boot is smaller, but I don't need a huge boot. The interior is big enough for me and I'm 6ft tall.

Listen: You simply can't tell people you drive a Polo. Are you a hairdresser?
Unless you can't afford a Golf.

If you saw my hair you wouldn't say that
I could afford a Ferrari IF I wanted one

There are a few reasonings behind the choice,

It will be 5dr and you can't get the little euroboxes in 5drs (elderly parents need to fit in) with decent power.
It is small enough for the SWMBO to drive - any bigger and she would never drive it. She didn't like the Lexus or the Golf as they were too big!!
Still VAG.
Plenty of parts out there for me to still be able to tinker with it

A Golf is like a Polo - just bigger and heavier, so if you need a heavier, bigger car get the lardy golf

What deal did you get Radek ? im considering a R buying 2nd hand or new, thanks.
Firstly, when I was buying the GTI 2 years ago I checked some good websites (drive the deal, broad... something and autoebid) and they gave me a range of discounts (about 2.5k). I showed that to the dealer and he lowered the price by 2.5k without a moan.

This time wherever I looked I didn't see any more than £500-700. That's what I expected. They probably have 1 allocation per branch, easy to fill. The waiting time was more important for me.

First the dealer said it would be 16 weeks which would be nice and then they would pay for ACC and rear A/B (about 1k). Plus supaguard for free (£300 but it's £20 on ebay + 3 hours of labour so not a big offer for me). I was very happy with that.

About the RVS - I asked him about that 5 times. He showed me a memo from the end of May saying that RVC was removed from order but only for CC, Sharan and something else. Not the Golf.
The order goes live on Mon so we'll see if it is accepted by VW.
Golf GTI VI DSG - died on the road, resurrected, came back as zombi, sold
R - rising blue, 5-door, DSG, ACC, something something...

Hurdy: How can I counteract your logic?
You'll probably make the Polo GTI so light that it will literally fly. Then you can name it Pogo!

Now go and buy that Ferrari. I would if I found a garage nearby to house it.

Polo GTIs are cool.

Much easier to park than a Ferarri too.

I think the only downside is the fact that they drink more oil than they do petrol.

Shame the supercharger doesn't give them a bit more low/mid range grunt like a Polo G40, or I'd have bought local dealer's demo car by now (nice white one with big spec).
