Question nr 2 - 18" or 19"?
I only planned 18" but it actually drove ok on 19". Any thoughts?

Congrats on your new car choice  ... you won't regret it

With regard to wheel choice have a read here from Reply #4 on, and remember about the inner headlight colour difference between 18"'s and 19"'s   :-

http://www.rforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=1301.0

I have the 19"'s and the ride is'nt too bad at all, very similar to my MK V GTI and R32.

I was finally freed from my crash repaired Golf and decided on replacement. The contenders were – GTI, Golf R, S3, 135i, RS3. And the winner is....

Golf R

Good choice - and definitely go with the 19's

Sorry guys, it will be 18". The roads were I live are a challenge for 18" GTI. I didn't want to push my luck.
Apart from that it will be Rising Blue, DSG, 5 door, ACC, RNS510, Dynaudio, Winter pack, lux and storage, rear A/B, RVC+sensors. I'm not a fan of leather so cloth is fine.

Got a very good deal - a lot more than I exected. Still, it's sh@t load of money  16 weeks I was told. I wouldn't count on that - I recon 5-6 months is more likely but we'll see.
Golf GTI VI DSG - died on the road, resurrected, came back as zombi, sold
R - rising blue, 5-door, DSG, ACC, something something...

Drove a silver M3 saloon yesterday. Very few around. Wow, what a car. Loved it. Maybe get that one and still keep Wolfgang. Hmmmm....

Snoops: I have a Crackberry so might as well get a cock car. It's going for a very attractive price as the owner's business has gone bust. This means, that for cash on the nail, I'd have a low mileage very fast car bargain.
Oh dear, just realised I'll have a parking problem. Decisions, decisions ....

I'd been debating what to get next and the Golf R was at the top of my list. I was then convinced by my wife to test drive the Polo GTI and I loved it.

300kg's lighter
absolutely no turbo lag due to the supercharger.
Still handled well
47mpg
£20k for a 5dr DSG Deep black pearl, with Xenons, climate, rear sensors, cruise and heated seats

I spend 90% of my time on town roads, so a lighter, smaller car fitted the bill well.

By the time I've finished "tinkering" it will probably lose another 100kg, so will weigh around 1100kg and have around 220bhp ( or 200bhp/ton, which would equate to the R having over 300bhp), which is plenty for a daily.

Just have to suffer the wait now!
