Well i currently get around 230 miles to a full tank. I am slightly heavy footed i might add, and drive around town a lot. Although saying that if i drive it carefully i can get decent miles out of a tank. I drove from North London to Chulmleigh in devon on little over half a tank, which is 207 miles.

right after alot of looking around and looking at gti's without the spec i want, i think i might have found what i have been looking for.

i just want some advice before i go and look at it, i will give a quick description, its a 2007 56 reg tornado red, DSG, 5 door, full leather, xenons, 18" r32 alloys(not sure if aftermarket or original, could they have been requested from the factory??), 24000 miles, full  VW service history. its up for 10,995, does that seem about right???

i want to investigate the mileage thoroughly, as well as going phoning VW to check the history and what miles it was serviced at, also checking MOT certs, is there anything else i can do to check if the mileage is correct???

also, i know the DSG oil needs changing every 40000 miles but is there a time scale also, should it have been done already??

same question with the cambelt, should that have been done after 4 years??? how much is a cambelt change on a gti??

is there anything else i should check???

thanks

Check the DSG mechantronics works ok.

Make sure engine is warm'd up to running temp, try doing lots of reversing and check smoothness of 1st and 2nd gear selection,
If it try's to bunny hop or pull away like you have bad clutch control, then the mechantronics unit will need replacing, costing upwards of £1000+.

Other then that, 5 door red Gti DSG, is a great choice, although I'm a touch biased

thanks saint steve, i appreciate your advice.

i have never drove a DSG car before, can it be put in full auto or do the paddles have to be used???

i like your choice of wheel colour, goes nicely with the red. i was originally looking for metallic black but the red has grown on me.

its strange, in the mk4 i preferred the 3 door, so sold the 5 door gti turbo i had and bought a 3 door gti turbo, they were both black, so i think i am due a change of colour in a golf.
