Inlet manifold/rocker cover questions
« on: 10 June 2011, 13:40 »
Ok so I want to give them both a good clean and lick of paint.

1. Do I need to be replacing the gaskets? Just got new rocker gasket last week fitted.
2. What kind of prep do they need before painting other than a good clean? (got some gunk)
3. I take it some bog standard heat-resistent paint will do?

I always find GSF confusing! ECP is much better!

Get the gasket from vw. GSF ones, or any after market gaskets tend to leak a little. If you wanna do it properly, take you breather pipe off too. You will need to replace the seal on the inside as well though. Part numbers are 051 103 483A -Gasket, and 028 103 500 - Seal. Prices are £16.80 for gasket, and £3.00 for the seal. Hope this helps.

Go to VW for your gaskets.

Any other "OEM quality" bollox gaskets are total crap.
