oh b*llox is this my cv joint?

was just messing about under the bonnet of the car and niticed what looks like a mangled book. lookes like is on drivers side drive shaft just after it comes out gearbox.
is this my inner cv boot?
hopefully its just the boot as i dont have any grinding or ticking sounds.

how hard is it to change and whats involved?

Yeah they're about £20. take off, put on.

You will have to take the driveshaft off first.

Ok cool cheers thought it was but just wanted conformation.
And yeah I gathered drive shaft would have to come off lol.

How would you remove the inner boot otherwise? can you get 2 piece kits?

Not to bad. You will probably need a puller to remove the driveshaft hub end, these are tricky on mk3's with plus suspension.
Be careful removing the inner cv joint, it is held on to the shaft with a circlip, it falls apart easily when removed.

Oh looks simple enuf in haynes manual.
But the bit that is ment say how to remove inner cv joint from driveshaft says no information avalable at time of writing the book.
How do I remove that?
