AGG to 2E conversion
« on: 30 May 2011, 18:01 »
Hi Guys,
I'm soon going to be doing a conversion from my AGG to nice and shiny 2E. Ive got the ECU, loom and engine (with all ancillaries).
I'm changing the box at the same time (to one that doesnt crunch in reverse!)

How much of the loom will need changing? Will it need changing all the way to the fusebox? Will I need to change the ECU or will my current one work? (I imagine not as the sensors are different?)

Will I need to recode my key to the new ECU or does the 2E not have an immobiliser?

Its the first engine change i've done, the most I have done before is gearboxes, I know this is a big jump but myself and my mate that is helping are quite technical and mechincally minded so hopefully should be able to manage.

Can anyone foresee any potential problems we might encounter?

Many Thanks

Will

Would be better to switch back to the 2e ecu and loom set up if you have it.

Infact you need to switch to the 2E ECU. It has an ISV and various other bits and that AGG doesn't, and vice versa (crank sensor).

That is what I was thinking, I remember a thread of yours saying they were a lot different.

AGG and 2E are diffrent injection systems all together the 2E was digifant  and the AGG was Simos.   ECU is a must, engine loom for sure, dashloom, that can stay.

I'm glad the dashloom can stay, that would mean it taking even longer!

The clocks are same?
Ive got the ECU and engine loom so that will help :)

Yeap i give him my ECU and the loom with the engine, i have the origial clocks that was in the car when i bought it, ill sell them if need be but yours will work fine

Wayne, its my old lump - clean good strong engine and the 2E's were the best of the 8v bunch (my opinion).
