so bhp will have little change at all, what about gaining torque? is there ways to see worth will acceleration difference? thanks again people :)

weight saving will work better for acceleration

Strip it, best gains

I have a 14lb flywheel, vr6 clutch, TIP, FMIC a few other things and its still no faster than my mates AGU (we both have the same car, AGU) and both remapped. Only thing with the remap that he has is coilovers

But mine does brake better and doesn't downgrade in heatsoak which is the only benifit at the top off my head.

As for your question, head for a k04 setup its the cheapest option in comparison to getting a k03 hybridized to the point of 260+bhp. But both setups have there perks etc... If I had the dollar my answer would be a gt28 turbo.

Audi TT - K04 TFSI Hybrid - 325BHP
VW Golf - k03 AGU - 200BHP

Power to weight helps but its more of a all or nothing sort of thing. My mk4 pulls away ever so slightly at literally a crawling pace from my mate's stage 2 LCR pushing 280bhp at any speed.

What are you running on your golf, no auq/aum golf whould out run a remapped lcr, sure ur mates lcr is running correctly.

Im just pushing 240 with all the usual bolt ons and AMD stage 2 map, my mates lcr is running fine, as i said he made 280bhp on AMD's rollers the same day he called me out for a run, my car is stripped out though...
I wouldn't say something so bold as no AUM/AUQ golf would outrun a mapped up lcr either - they are not untouchable, it's not a straight line car and if running standard turbo on full street trim it's no surprise really, he certainly wasn't.

Ive found since i got my lcr that every golf thats tried to race me has lost.. badly. One of which was a anniversary gti mk4 petrol which i believe is the 180bhp auq motor   Also i can actually stop from high speeds well unlike the poxy stock brakes on most mk4's. Brembos are the way forward

I am not running stock brakes...
These are some old pics I've managed to find, I haven't got any more up to date pictures

Im running 330mm x 28mm two piece floating rotors with large 4 pot NEX calipers, the pistons are quite a bit larger than the pistons on the LCR calipers.
The car weighs in at about 1 ton without driver, just under 240bhp per ton, as I said the car is stripped out and wouldn't be fair to compare against an anniversary with a map.
Exterior wise it's a standard 1.6 on the outside and still has a 1.6 badge as it's a sleeper and not many would notice the difference either.

sorry about the size of the pictures, I'll find a way to scale them.

Thanks that was my first attempt at sanding any metal work, I've got a polished up inlet mani and Im working on an AGN valve cover at the moment, it's alot of elbow grease but maintenance isn't as bad as many think. Picture of new inlet mani to be put on after the engine rebuild:

I've recently spent a bit more time on my engine bay because as a sleeper it's not eye catching and when parking up on a cruise people don't look twice at my car, they all look at my mates scoobys and evos, so this is bit of an outburst without ruining the sleeper look.

Back on topic though, power to weight is very important but I think given the average age of the mk4 golf owner, alot of members would not be able to live with a stripped out shell with engine on wheels as a daily car and I admit I myself find it a headache to drive in the wet (no ABS or traction control), in the snow, in traffic and when I'm not feeling in the mood. There can be little compromise when it comes to weight savings, it's a case of all or nothing, so to the OP it might be easier to just go for more power. I would steer clear of CR Turbo hybrids, I've a few 1.8t mates who have had nothing but bad luck with them, better off going big turbo or jbs hybrid, just avoid any boost spikes or massive torque and you should be fine on the standard block making a healthy and strong 270+ or even go for a k04-02x like the one in the picture above :) (Sold)
