« on: 31 March 2005, 20:43 »
hi all, im stuck on fitting a really simple k&n air filter ive removed the standard air box and bought a conversion plate to go from a square hole to a round hole, i have connected it all up and it sounds mint really beefy but when i thrash it the engines trying to cut out and die down ??, now there was 3 connectors which plug in 1 goes to the top of the box 1 to the right hand side front and the other1 into a little box thing by the air box, with not having the standard air box on anymore is it playing up because theres no where for the connector to plug in?? thanks for your help lads

ok.. i;m pretty sure its the MAF..  Mass Air Flow sensor.

did the instructions that came with the kit say anything about what to do with the connector?

anyone... i've only ever installed an induction kit.. on my old '96 polo.. which just sat directly ont he throttle butterfly.. and on a saxo.. which was a similar arrangement but with some pipe to extend it somewhat

ok.. i know on some cars the MAF still gets used..

whats all this conversion plate/round hole/square hole business?

in my experience induction kits normally come with all the necessary parts?

at which point are you saying the engine is trying to cut out?

when you stompy your foot down.. or after you've revved the tits off it?

i found on my polo the induction kit added lag when accelerating, and made it more tricky.. it was more likely to stall unless you gave it more gas.. and talking of gas.. i took it off as it drank so much!
(nearly was much as this valver i upgraded to.. LOL!)
