He Had it rolling roaded a few weeks back, with a panel filter and miltek sports cat and cat back system, it acheived around the 245 bhp mark which seems abit crap to me as a cupra r will remap to 250bhp standard providing everything is as it should be.

Thats to be expected. Mine has an R-Tech remap with the same setup as him (although mines full turbo back) and I got the same bhp reading (my remap was done before the panel filter and Milltek so I could probably get more, just need to head back to R-Tech at some point in time). Thats just what they remap to, why Revo feel the need to lie and say 260 is beyond me.

As for the Cupra R comment. They come with a larger KO4 turbo (MK5 GTI has a KO3s turbo) so will remap to a higher bhp.

they claim it has taken it to 260bhp, but my 225bhp leon cupra r isnt far behind his golf so that figure is aload of bull.
[/quote]

Not necessarily a load of bull. People seem to think that a bhp figure is what they'll get. It depends on where in the rev range it is, where the peak power is, how responsive the engine is on getting there. Your 225bhp may just be more consistant and in a better place, could be to do with tourque too, his 260bhp may be at the end of the scale and he's just not got there yet.

all the mk5 Revo boys were severely disappointed at JKM when we had an RR day a few years ago  :lipsrsealed:

It seems to me people who have or have used Rtech are a bit biased.
This remap isnt all or nothing, looking at the graph its very linear and actually gives a longer span of power all through the rev range compared to a standard car, its just what I am after and pretty much suits the car.
The problem is getting traction as it scrabbles a bit....or a lot if its damp. Really needs an LSD like my Type R EK9 had.
I am not after lowering or changing the car though, nor do I want to own the fastest Golf out there. I want it to look standard and be a lot of fun as its my third car  :nerd:
I had a Standard MR2 rev 3 turbo that was 245BHP when my brother had a 210bhp Leon Cupra R, the extra BHP never made me fly past him, yes i was faster but when you have that power you need a lot more to get much faster.

Very true, alot of people seem to think that a given BHP (peak power) value means they are faster. Infact RTec have a thread going at the moment where they proved that a car with less BHP is quicker than a particular one with more BHP.

mr2 is in a different ball game though, mid engined rear wheel drive vs a fwd hatchback is a bit unfair. would have mine back in a heartbeat if i could live with 2 seats

I'm just going on what I saw on the day mate, I didn't have an R-Tech map on mine back then either

I never knocked the Revo map, mearly said that it will never make 260. My R-Tech will also never make 260.
