first time detailer vr6!
« on: 13 May 2011, 13:25 »
recently just bought a vr6 and know nothing about detailing apart from 2 buckets and a sponge, any tips or products that are not going to kill my pocket to get a good wash and shine that can last 2 weeks or so!

this is considering i know nothing sorry if it seems like a whole dumb question just so many products to choose from it seems like a mind field!

I see you already found this section.

First off, don't use two buckets and a sponge. Use two buckets (one hot and soapy, one cold to clean the mitt), and a wash mitt, if Guy catches you using a sponge he will go ballistic.  Sponges do more damage than good.

Have a read of this :afro:

Oh and never use washing up liquid either.

Also here is a guide to claying:

It's the best thing you can do to a car when you first get it, feel the paintwork and if it's not smooth like touching glass, a good claying is in order.

Good man. :afro:

I'll await for a detailing guru to help you with what products to use as they will know what is better suited to your car.

No worries buddy. I'll be in the same position soon asking what's the best polish for my red Anni.
