Necessary Suspension bits list

I haven't had a Saturday off to fit my Bilstein/Eibach setup until this weekend so before I tackled it I need a bit of advice on the little things. So far I have:

Genuine front and rear top mounts with bearings
Genuine rear bump stops
The Bilstein kit came with front dust covers and nuts/bolts for front and rear.

However the assembly instructions show rear bump stops but not fronts. I checked my existing standard setup and it was impossible to see but thought I felt it through the rubber cover. Is there a front bump stop? Surely there has to be but it seems quite small if it is! The Bilstein front damper part is quite thick so I don't even know if a standard front bump stop would fit over it.

Also spring pads, the standard setup doesn't have them for the bottom and can this cause a noise issue?

Appreciate any advice and tips on doing it. I will have my ramp at work and my impact gun to shear bolts off  :wink: but it looks quite straight forward... he says

Should have front bump stops, see if the standard ones fit. I wouldn't loose any sleep if they wasn't fitted though.
Never fitted springs pads or heard of them. be fine without.

Yes you will need front bumpstops however if the Bilstein's are a bigger rod they will not fit.

Thanks for the info guys.

The spring pad is a bit of rubber that goes between the spring and the damper plate. Some of the new 3 series' I work on get noises where the spring has moved a bit and have eaten the spring pads causing metal on metal noise. Thought I might have an issue but if it isn't on on standard I hope it will be fine :)

As for the bump stop I'll see what the old one looks like and go from there :)

The front bump stop is built inside the damper... I don't even know what the hell I've bought!  :grin: But to be fair the Bilstein web site doesn't even have that info and says to use OEM bumpstops!
