Detailers,

I have access to a Karcher HD 5/12c. I was wondering if this would be ok to clean the car with. I gave it a blast the other day on the patio and it stripped it clean. My concern this is too powerful for a car.

Here are its specs:

Power supply (Ph/V/Hz): 1/240/50
Water flow rate (l/h): 500
Operating pressure (bar/MPa): 120/12
Max. pressure (bar/MPa): 150/15

Here is a link to it: http://www.karcher.co.uk/uk/Products/Professional/Highpressure_cleaners/Cold_water_highpressure_cleaners/Cold_water_compact_class/15141030.htm

I know nothing about pressure washers xD This is a neighbours one who uses it comercially and said I can borrow it whenever.

Thanks for any advice,

this is fine mate, if you are able to turn the pressure down on the machine then do so but if you take it easy and dont start getting too close with the lance you shouldnt have any problems, take care round window rubbers, mouldings, etc etc.

go for it just take it easy and dont get too close with it ;)

this is fine... but did you use the high power lance on the patio?*  if there is a less powerful lance then use it?

if you can operate at 120bar thats about right

*thats the noisy one with the ceramic ball inside that goes round and round

yeah.. thats the dirt blaster lance... don't use that on your motor... it won't do the car much good and the lance won't be very effective either

see if you can use the 'normal' lance as that will be fit for purpose, you don't need to use it bang close up to be effective

I went and bought a snow foam attachment thing today. I was all excited to turn my car white and the dam thing didnt fit. The are both Karcher and are supposed to fit.

The Karcher 5/12 is less then a year old and all Karcher attachments should be compatible.

I rang Karcher up and they said everything is push and twist to attach something. However, this pressure washer isnt. Unless Im missing something.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
